Goals from Hiroshi Kiyotake, Rodrigo Pimpao, Yusuke Maruhashi and Takushi Inui secured a one-sided win for the visitors, who moved level at the top of Group G to give themselves a fighting chance of progressing in the competition.
They did not have it all their own way in the early stages, though, as the home side looked lively in what turned out to be their best spell of the game.
Arema winger Muhammad Ridhuan broke through and crossed for fellow Singaporean Noh Alam Shah who was inches away from connecting and opening the scoring.
Things became cagey after that, with both sides looking for a way into the game as they jostled in midfield before Cerezo had their first chance after 22 minutes, setting the tone for the rest of the contest.
Rodrigo embarked on a fine solo run and dragged a shot just wide at the end of it before Martinez burst into the box and looked for a penalty after taking a tumble, only to be booked for diving by the referee, much to the Brazilian midfielder`s annoyance.
The Japanese side made the breakthrough 31 minutes in with Kiyotake trading passes with Shu Kurata before beating two defenders for pace and slamming past Kurnia Meiga, who had little chance.
Two minutes before the break, Cerezo doubled their lead on the counter attack. Rodrigo ran at the Arema defence - who backed off allowing him space - and then drove home from the edge of the box.
Meiga was hauled off at half-time but only a minute into the second period his replacement Ahman Kumiawan was picking the ball out of the back of the net after Rodrigo and Inui linked up to free Maruhashi, who did the rest and put his side out of sight.
The rout was completed on the hour, with Inui scoring the goal of the game as he broke free of his markers and netted with a clinical finish that Kumiawan could do little about.
They could have made it five before the end too, with Kurniawan saving from Rodrigo with 18 minutes remaining but in the end Cerezo settled for four goals and three points.
